For the last few weeks I have been watching the house sparrows as they built their nest on my front porch. We watched the mommy and daddy gradually build the nest to where it was strong and safe. Since it was inside the eave, it was safe from the wind and rain. Though in Austin right now that was not an issue since we are in a drought.
If you look closely you can see two baby birds sticking their heads out of the nest.
This is them a week later. Boy those parents really had to work to keep them fed and growing like that.
Over the weekend, the babies grew up and left the nest. It was time for the kids to leave home to start their own life.
I will miss them. Think they will write?
